PAID TIME OFF

We combine vacation and sick leave accruals into one pool called Paid Time Off (PTO). Accrual starts at 24 days per year and increases after 5 years of service and beyond.

HOLIDAYS

12 paid holidays per year, including 2 floating.

DENTAL INSURANCE

We offer a choice of Delta Dental PPO or DeltaCare HMO. We pay 100% of employee and 50% of dependent premiums.

VISION INSURANCE

We provide a vision plan through VSP and pay 100% of the premium for employees and dependents.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

We offer a choice of Kaiser HMO, Anthem Blue Cross HMO, or Anthem Blue Cross PPO. We pay 100% of the premium for employees and dependents enrolled in the Kaiser plan. Employees enrolled in the Anthem Blue Cross plans contribute $50 per month for dependent coverage.

EDUCATION REIMBURSEMENT

Employees may be reimbursed up to $2,746 annually for qualifying coursework.

CALPERS RETIREMENT

The District contracts with the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) with the retirement formula of 2% @ 62 for new members  and 2.5% @ 55 for existing “classic” members. New members pay 5.5% and classic members pay 8% to CalPERS. The definition of “classic” or “new” is determined by CalPERS in accordance with predetermined criteria. For employees who meet the membership qualifications, membership in the CalPERS system is required. The District is also a Social Security participant.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION

The employee may participate in an optional 457 deferred compensation plan to set aside additional retirement income. We match $500 per calendar year in a 401a plan.

LONG TERM DISABILITY

Employee contributes 1/10th of 1% of salary towards LTD premium. This benefit pays 2/3 of salary, up to $10,000/month, should employee become disabled for an extended period of time. We do not participate in the State Disability Insurance (SDI) Program.

LIFE INSURANCE

Life insurance is 100% paid by Helix. Term life of 20 times the monthly salary to a maximum of $200,000, with additional Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Personal, financial and legal counseling available to employees and their dependents.

PARKING

Provided by the District at all work sites.

SERVICE AWARDS

Gifts and recognition at each five-year interval.
